Nassau County's Transit System is being Privatized
jcl_8 wrote in octranspo
Nassau County's Transit System is presently operated MTA Long Island Bus. On January 1st, the transit system is being privatized and operated by Veolia.

There is a lot of uproar by transit customers and bus operators over privatization.

It sounds like the People In Charge there still believe in "public-private partnerships". [Obviously, the fact that PPP schemes frequently fail is being systematically ignored, which is about par for the figurative course. :-(]

Can't watch the video right now, but what's the issue? There are a lot of bus systems in the world that are operated through public-private partnerships. Buses in London, England, for example. And their bus system is great - I barely ever took the Tube while living there.

A lot of outraged customers concerned over potential service cuts after Veolia (the private contractor) takes over their transit system.

It was a rhetorical question.
